The Thing. Pain — or nothing. Either way, a burden.

"How to die to return?" you think.

To the Crucible you go.

A narrow path widens to the furnace. You leave it in a niche — fire takes it.

You feel something — wordless.

Blurry vision. Forward — to the light.

Pier beneath sky and sea. You look down:

ashes dissolve in water.

Freedom. Loss for new birth.

A tear.

You hum:

"Oh, my sorrow,

I’ve never been here.

Where is the end?

Who saw it?

Whose are you now?

Now you are ash."
